Great little article about ways that you may not be aware that restaurants are cutting corners to save a little cash.
My favorites:
8. Substituting Top-Shelf Alcohol with Generic Booze
I personally would never know as I am not a big drinker. I might know with wine, but at better places, the wine bottle will be brought to your table for your inspection prior to serving.
6. Refilling Pricey Bottled Waters with Tap
My Mom, who loves her bottled water, would know the difference. Except of course if they were using a filter, but the article does not mention this fact.
3. Using Fake Creamer
This is another situation in which there could be something in the fake creamer (which is mixed 50/50 with milk or cream) that could cause an adverse reaction in the person drinking it.
2. Serving Caffeinated Coffee as Decaf
This could be cause for a lawsuit if found out. Some people have very bad reactions to caffeine. Unfortunately it is easy to say they made a “mistake”, and hard to prove it is a standard practice.
